DNA Hit of the Year Award
DNA Hit of the Year is a global program designed to recognize the value of DNA database technology to solve and prevent crime. It is sponsored Gordon Thomas Honeywell (GTH-GA), the world’s foremost authority on forensic DNA policy, legislation and law.
Through the evaluation of DNA database hit cases, DNA Hit of the Year is intended to bring recognition to the databases so crime victims receive the justice they deserve. The award is also meant to recognize the extraordinary dedication and hard work of DNA scientists and criminal investigators who use DNA databases to bring justice to crime victims.
Starting in 2017, GTH-GA will conduct the annual DNA Hit of the Year program. GTH-GA will partner with a diverse group of international judges to review the cases and determine which case will be recognized as the DNA Hit of the Year. GTH-GA will present the selected DNA Hit of the Year case at the annual Human Identification Solutions (HIDS) conference held each May in Europe.
